The Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering is a member of the European Association for Earthquake Engineering (EAEE), whose objective is to promote regional and international cooperation among scientists and engineers in the field of earthquake engineering, through different actions including the organization of a major conference every four years.
Among the main objectives of EAEE is to promote research and educational activities in Europe, to play an active role in all aspects of mitigation of seismic risk and to establish strong technical and scientific cooperation links among members.

The Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering (HSEE) was established in 2002 as National Section – Member of the International Association of Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) based in Tokyo, and of the European Association for Earthquake Engineering (EAEE). The HSEE counts today more than 300 members.
The scope of the Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering is the cooperation with the International Associations and their National Members, of which this Society is a member according to their Statutes.
The HSEE also aims to promote Scientific and Technological Developments and Applications in the field of Earthquake Engineering in Greece, through research, publications, cooperation with Universities and other institutions, organizing of relevant events, such as conferences, seminars, lectures etc.
Moreover, the Hellenic Society of Earthquake Engineering has a contributory role in the revisions of the Greek Code for Earthquake Resistant Design, whenever necessary, and to earthquake risk mitigation, in general.
Finally, the Society aims to advance the spirit of cooperation and the protection of scientific and professional status of its members and of all Engineers – members of the Technical Chamber of Greece – through common actions on earthquake engineering related subjects.
